Get Involved with Transformation

Are you keen to support change in your local area? Do you have some specialist skills or experience that you’d like to share to encourage positive change?

We are on the lookout for some keen individuals to volunteer as part of our Transformation Team. If you feel positively about the upcoming changes to our Volunteer Journey and would like to support volunteers in your area, then one of these roles may be for you.

We will form a team of volunteers for each role as below, so there will be lots of flexibility within these tasks. We are not limited on numbers; more team members bring more flexibility.

You don’t need to fit all the criteria and complete all the tasks by yourself. That’s why we work as a team to get things done!

Local Go-Live Support Team

We are looking for volunteers with;
  • a positive attitude towards change.
  • a good understanding of how local processes work currently, and how they will change.
  • a good understanding of how the new Digital Tools will be used.
  • the ability to work individually as well as part of a wider team.
Purpose:

The Volunteer Experience transformation will mean change for many of our volunteers, local processes, and structures. This will lead to an increased number of questions from volunteers, and many of these will need a local answer.

The purpose of this team is to field these questions, find a local solution wherever possible, and refer matters to UKHQ for the questions that require their support during the weeks before and after migration to the new team-based approach and digital system.

This temporary team will be needed for 6-8 weeks around go-live, 2 weeks before and 4-6 weeks after. This may be extended if there is a requirement to do so.

Tasks to be undertaken individually or collectively:
  • Provide the first line of support for local volunteers to get advice to resolve ‘how to’ queries using knowledge to support both the local processes used by our volunteers, and questions about the new digital tools that support those local processes
  • Signposting volunteers to pages on the Scout website or to the Digital Skills Tool and Digital Champions to provide support
  • Enabling people to utilise the new digital systems and understand the changes in local processes
  • Identifying issues that need referring to the Support Centre
  • Receive and manage local referrals from the Support Centre

Change Champions

We are looking for volunteers with;
  • a positive attitude towards change.
  • a fair idea of how their local teams work and communicate.
  • the ability to work individually as well as part of a wider team.
Purpose:

To support volunteers within your District to learn and adapt to the upcoming changes throughout the next 12 months.

Tasks to be undertaken individually or collectively:
  • Support your District Team, Trustee Boards and Groups by answering any concerns and queries about the changes from their team members, passing those you’re unsure about to the Transformation Lead.
  • Communicate regularly with the Transformation Lead to provide localised feedback.
  • Share resources and information from the Transformation Lead to volunteers within your locality.
  • Champion the changes in your area with positive language and conversations.
  • Support to Go-Live Team when we transition to our new Digital Tools.
  • Any other local change tasks required by the Transformation Team to support the upcoming changes.

Digital Champions

We are looking for volunteers with;
  • a positive attitude towards change.
  • an awareness of how web-based digital systems work.
  • a good range of digital skills and experience.
  • good communication skills.
  • the ability to work individually as well as part of a wider team.
Purpose:

To support volunteers with the rollout of new Digital Tools in your local area.

Tasks to be undertaken individually or collectively:
  • Provide volunteers in your local area with the opportunity to upskill their digital knowledge, working with them either 1 to 1 or in group settings.
  • Work with the Transformation Lead to provide larger opportunities for upskilling and support when required.
  • Communicate regularly with the Transformation Lead to provide localised feedback.
  • Champion the use of Digital Tools in your local area, showing teams how their tasks will become easier with these new tools.
  • Support the Go-Live Team when we transition to our new Digital Tools
  • Any other digital-based tasks required by the Transformation Team to support the upcoming changes.
