New Year Message from the CC

During the last few weeks I have been caught up with life outside Scouting which has caused me to reflect on life and its fragility whilst at the same time in my scout role have been preoccupied with adult issues that have detracted from the real purpose, that of providing good scouting for our young people. We can all cite excellent examples of scouting at its best so as we look forward to 2015 let us focus on Scouting’s values and as adults lead by example, embrace change, accept others points of view and be polite and restrained in the way we deal with issues that challenge us. Integrity – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal. Respect – We have self-respect and respect for others. Care – We support others and take care of the world in which we live. Belief – We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes. Co-operation – We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.

Thank you for your time and commitment in providing valuable scouting for a growing number of young people.

I hope you have had an enjoyable, peaceful season with a chance to spend quality time with your families and friends. In the early part of 2015 a search for my successor will begin but in the meantime I look forward to leading you all to provide another year of excellent scouting enabling our young people to be better prepared for the future.
